Our Sheep
Sheep Milk New Zealand sheep are happy, healthy and well-looked after. In fact, they are referred to as the princesses. They are free to roam outside in paddocks or to head for shelter when it gets too hot or too cold. Their welfare is at the forefront of our operation.
The sheep are fed a diet of free range grass combined with a premium feed supplement which is locally grown or produced on farm and is without fillers or chemicals. Knowing exactly what our animals are eating without worry of additives is important to animal health and milk production.
Sheep Milk New Zealand started with East Friesians in 2011, since then, the team have visited sheep milk farms in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Switzerland and the Netherlands to evaluate breeds and farming methods for animal welfare, best practice and milk production. Commercial milking began in 2019.
